For all the talk at Habitat II in Istanbul there was only one structure actually built. It was a small adobe building which seemed to have no soul. It set us all thinking and eventually that small adobe shed would inspire us to build Arakainga.
No one was more surprised than the builders themselves when two "owner-builder" demonstration houses were recently completed in less than a week in Aotea Square, in the heart of downtown Auckland, next to the Town Hall.
