In 1993 attempts to have the built environment included in the school curriculum were defeated. It has however been worth the wait. In the old curriculum students would have simply learned "about" the built environment, and this would have served only to reinforce an existing order which has brought the world close to ecological collapse.

Any school curriculum which does not include the language of architecture is rather like one which fails to teach the art of reading and writing.
