It was fitting that Barry Rae should have been farewelled in a David Trubridge coffin.

David Trubridge, a Waiheke designer, is well known for his elegant boat-like furniture. His equally eye-catching eco-casket is made from natural plywood and lashed together with jute fibre.

I first discovered this casket at Barry Rae's funeral in 2009. It was an option offered by "State of Grace".
