Fired stone

ImageFiring the surface of the stone melted it into a translucent glaze. These building blocks were then assembled into a mural to lead into the entry of the Government Life building at 99 Queen Street, Auckland.

At the time it was the largest sculpture in Auckland.

Care of the built environment should never be entrusted to ego-driven architects who are concerned about nothing beyond their own self-aggrandisement.
