Lindsay Evans |
I had come to love the Curly Cottage long before I met Lindsay.
Lindsay's work in the 2010 Village Arts Ukelele Exhibiton was highly political, as always. The French Foreign Legion declared in their song that they regretted nothing, and the French Government also had no regrets, either about their nuclear testing in the Pacific at Moruroa, or the sinking of the Rainbow Warrior in Auckland Harbour. The song of the ukelele became the mummy within the white wrapping cloths. New Zealand businesses and the New Zealand Government have had no regrets about their environmental destruction. During the exhibition the government was opening up our sacred National Parks for mining, and introducing law changes to stifle protest. |
